Notes & Directions:		Beaver Drop is the local dunkin spot here in Easton. Although nothing epic, it does provide some down time at wide range of flows from spring high water to summer minimums. During summer, the difference in temperature between the Delaware & spring fed Bushkill can be 20 degrees or more, adding a new sensation to the help balance on the convergence line. You need to be in predominantly cold flows to get the Beaver Slap on the main seam - too much warm water & you only go neck deep and shoot over the strong suck zone. TOPOLOGY: The feature is formed by a portion of the Delaware flowing between an island and the PA shore, then over a crumbling 2-step dam. Flow from the Bushkill Creek joins from river right at right angles flowing across the base of the dam. PREDICTED LEVELS: To predict levels a few days in advance use the following link (5-7ft is 6-13kcfs)... http://newweb.erh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=phi&gage=BVDN4 CHARCS: At high water >11 kcfs the working area is right next the PA bank ~ 8ft up the Delaware from the Bushkill. There is a small eddy that feeds up to the upper step of the dam. Slip your bow into the downstream flow, just above the dam crest and set your hip as it swings past the lip of the dam. In most situations youll drop to within a few inches of the dam shelf, putting your head 1 ft under for a couple rotations. The shelf is ~10ft wide before dropping over the second drop into the Bushkill flow. The obstacle to extended DT is the reaction flow off the first drop bouncing off the ledge, causing an upswell just before the second drop. If you make it through that you can take advantage of the Bushkill currents to drop further. At flows below 10kcfs the line moves out to the center of the dam where the upper section has collapsed onto the shelf. Depending on the levels it is possible to initiate off the remains of the top lip & float neck deep down to the second ledge where the two streams converge & drop, this is the 9 kcfs charc. If the level is too low for that youll need to find the convergence of the two flows, cross over the Bushkill current & engage the Delaware flow at a point high enough up that youll get the drop off the second ledge and be able to spin your 1/4 or 3/4 turns to engage your edge the the converging Bushkill flows. The tricky part of all this is the variability of the two stream flows makes the convergence point move around from day to day. Below 6500 or so there is a small eddy formed to the left of center in the main dam flow by a chunk of the upper dam creating a pourover & then a full fledged eddy. This can be used to stage for lefty charc into the convergence of the two streams as mentioned above or to use a righty into the main flow wave train. The convergence zone at the end of this eddy can be quite strong resulting in a full mush to the unwary. LOCATION: Beaver Drop is 100 yds north of US-22 on PA 611 North. If arriving in Easton on I-78 youll follow signs for downtown & 611 N. On 611 you pass a green link bar suspension bridge (free to/from NJ) on your right, as you approach the second bridge on US-22 (tol from NJ to PA only), turn right to go under the bridge and stay on 611 N. After looping under the bridge you come to stop sign and a right turn onto the bridge over the Bushkill, look for a parking spot on the road. The path down to the creek is off the triangle of grass between the two streams & the road. If coming from NJ on US-22 take the exit immediately off the toll bridge & find a parking spot. If coming from the west on US-22, exit at the 4th Street exit (last exit in PA). Bear left at the light at the end of the ramp. Get into the left turn lane for the next light @ 3rd St. Turn left under US-22 & pass through the next light. As 3rd St bears right to climb the hill, turn right onto Bushkill Drive, a one-way road along the base of the hill. At the stop sign, turn right onto 611 South, park on or after the bridge. We rode the 9000cfs charc with the lefty being the preferred entry method. I received very consistent rides with odds of nine out of ten being a minimum of 4 seconds but the average was six to seven. One ride was timed at 10 and one ride took me pretty deep. Greg hit some in the five second range not bad at all for day two. Great Vis and lots of spinning. Well worth the trip at this level. I cant wait to get back at a higher level to see spot change at the other levels. The spot is now called ...	Details
